Willows Water Public Notice
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Dear Willows Water District Customers,
We are committed to providing safe, high-quality drinking water to all our customers. As part of that commitment, we are writing to inform you of a regulatory violation related to our Backflow Prevention and Cross-Connection Control Program (BPCCC), identified during a routine inspection conducted by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) on December 13, 2024.
Nature of the Violation
The violation involves a failure to maintain complete documentation of backflow prevention device testing for new cross-connections added to the water system during calendar year 2022. While the necessary backflow prevention devices were installed, the required documentation was not fully available at the time of the inspection.
This issue does not pose an immediate risk to your health. However, incomplete documentation could increase the potential for a cross-connection to go undetected, which—if left unaddressed—can compromise water safety under certain conditions.
Corrective Actions Taken
· All missing documentation has since been located, and all newly installed backflow devices are properly recorded.
· We have reviewed and strengthened our internal processes to ensure ongoing compliance and prevent similar issues in the future.
Required Public Notification
As required by CDPHE regulations, we are issuing this Tier 3 Public Notice to keep our customers informed. Tier 3 notices are used for non-emergency issues that do not require immediate action but must still be disclosed.
We kindly ask that you share this information with others who may use Willows Water District water but may not receive this notice directly—such as tenants in apartment complexes, residents of care facilities, students, or employees in businesses. This can be done by posting the notice in a public space or distributing copies as needed.
What Should You Do?
No action is required on your part at this time.
Should a situation ever arise where the water is unsafe to drink, we will notify you as soon as possible, but within 24 hours, with instructions.
We apologize for any concerns this may cause and thank you for your understanding. We remain dedicated to maintaining the integrity and safety of your water supply. If you have any questions or need further information, please contact us directly:
